TNT

At CrossFit Alabaster, we have always participated by hosting “Friday Night Lights” (FNL) as an intramural competition. Going forward it will be called Thursday Night Throwdowns (TNT)! Here is the rundown…

The Points

Members and teams can earn points for their teams with some fun and friendly inter-gym competition. Here’s the breakdown:

  • 5 points – “Spirit Award” – For the team with the most spirit, energy, and excitement at TNT 
  • 3 points – Attending TNT 
  • 3 points – Completing the Social challenge  for that week. This matters a lot, it along with the Fitness challenge tend to be the game changers each week in overall scoring. 
  • 3 points – Completing the Fitness challenge for that week. 
  • 5 point – “The Real MVP Award” – For the competitor that contributed the most to the Open that week, pushed him/herself out of their comfort zone, rallied around others, etc. Chosen by Team Captains 

The Throwdown

Every year the Open workouts get released l weekly on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. and then the best of the best of CrossFit pair off and go head to head. Well, why should we be any different? This will be our third year to put this into action for our athletes as they go HEAD TO HEAD! This continues to be so much fun. So every Thursday evening during the Open there will NOT be a 6:30 p.m. class. Instead we will have our Thursday Night Throwdown event! This will be our main focus during the Open season since it is football season in the south! For head to head a few individuals will be invited to participate based on the evenings theme. Only those individuals will be allowed to do the workout that evening. No exceptions As for the remaining competitors we will all workout on Friday during class or open gym and Saturday open gym as well.

Challenges

10/10 

Social: post a picture of yourself and at least 3 others teammates, tag us in the location or checkin and lastly use the hashtags #CFAmily and #InTheOpenAtCFA 

Fitness: complete a 2000 meter row individually

10/17 

Social: post your fitness testimony, tag us in the location or checkin and lastly use the hashtags #CFAmily and #InTheOpenAtCFA 

Think outside the box here. People often think weight loss is the only thing to use. But maybe it gave you a community you needed. Or perhaps you’ve have spiritual PR’s since starting CF. 

Fitness: As a team accumulate wall balls.
The team that accumulates the most will earn 10 points. Second place will earn 6 points. And third will earn 4 points.

10/24 

Social: Find some event outside of the gym to go and support your gym fam! It could be a friends child’s game, someone playing music (Cam you playing?), going to watch Coach Jake Ganus and those Thompson Warriors! 

Fitness: Accumulate 75 calories on the bike individually.

10/31 

Social: Take a picture with a teammate that you got to know better during the open, tag us in the location or checkin and lastly use the hashtags #CFAmily and #InTheOpenAtCFA 

Fitness: As a team accumulate burpees.
The team that accumulates the most will earn 10 points. Second place will earn 6 points. And third will earn 4 points.

11/7

Fitness: Complete 2 Ab Tabatas.
(Must be done at CFA)

*** All fitness challenges start Saturday and must be completed before the pregame activities start in order to earn points. Same applies… (was there more here Leigh?)
