Healthy Isn’t Complicated, It’s Repetitive

One of the biggest things I have learned over the years when it comes to health and fitness is that it really isn’t that complicated.

But it is repetitive.

We live in a world where we are constantly being told that there is a better way to get healthy.

A new diet.

A new supplement.

A new workout.

A new fitness trend.

A new “hack” that is going to completely change your life.

And honestly, I think that is one of the biggest reasons people struggle with their health and fitness.

They are constantly looking for something new instead of getting really good at doing the basics over and over again.

I see this all the time.

Someone wants to lose weight, so they completely overhaul their diet. They eliminate everything they enjoy eating, start working out six days a week, and tell themselves they are going to be perfect.

Maybe they do really well for two weeks.

Then life happens.

They miss a workout.

They eat something that wasn’t part of their diet.

They have a busy week at work.

And suddenly the entire plan is out the window.

The problem wasn’t necessarily the person.

The problem was the plan.

If your plan requires you to be perfect, it probably isn’t a very good plan.

So what does healthy actually look like?

Honestly, it is pretty boring.

Eat protein.

Drink water.

Eat fruits and vegetables.

Get your steps in.

Strength train.

Get some cardio.

Get enough sleep.

Do these things over and over again.

There isn’t anything flashy about that.

But guess what?

It works.

I have seen it happen with our members over and over again.

The people who make the biggest changes aren’t always the people who have the most motivation.

They aren’t always the people who have the best workouts.

They aren’t always the people who eat perfectly.

They are the people who consistently show up.

They come to the gym even when they don’t feel like it.

They make a good decision with their food even after having a bad meal.

They get back on track after vacation.

They keep going when the scale isn’t moving as quickly as they want.

They don’t let one bad day turn into a bad week, and they don’t let one bad week turn into quitting altogether.

That is where the magic happens.

Not in one workout.

Not in one perfect meal.

Not in one week of being “really good.”

It happens through repetition.

Think about brushing your teeth.

You don’t brush your teeth once and expect to have good dental health for the rest of your life.

You do it every day.

Over and over again.

Health and fitness work in a very similar way.

The things you do consistently are the things that eventually become habits.

And once those habits become part of your normal routine, they don’t require nearly as much thought or motivation.

That is the goal.

We don’t want our members to follow some crazy plan for 30 days and then go back to their old habits.

We want to help people build a lifestyle that they can actually maintain.

Because life is going to happen.

You are going to have vacations.

You are going to have birthdays.

You are going to have stressful weeks at work.

Your kids are going to have activities.

You are going to have days where you don’t feel like working out.

That isn’t a failure.

That’s life.

The goal isn’t to eliminate those things.

The goal is to build habits that can survive them.

Healthy isn’t complicated.

It’s repetitive.

Do the basics.

Do them consistently.

And then do them again tomorrow.
